Mickey Rooney plays Mr. Yunioshi in the popular 1961 film, Breakfast at Tiffany's. His makeup was used to portray himself as a caricatured version of a Japanese man. Taped eyelids, bucked teeth, and a heavy accent has created the image of an Asian stereotype for Asian men.

Because of the popularity of this film, the spread of this stereotype has been persistent in Hollywood media. Mickey Rooney has stated his regrets of playing the role because he did not know how many people would be offended by it.
